Could Canadian Swing Coach Sean Foley Tutor Tiger Woods?

Tiger Woods has already worked with some of the best swings coaches the world has to offer in Butch Harmon and Hank Haney.  And we might see him working with one more as there are rumors that Tiger Woods could hire Canadian swing coach Sean Foley.

After suffering through some of his worst PGA performances in 2010 and the media backlash from marital infidelities, Woods needs help with his game more than ever.  And Foley could be just the man to provide this help.

New Golf Slots Looks set to Impress

Casinos and golf have often gone hand in hand, due to the facilities of luxury resorts in Las Vegas and other gambling hotspots, including in Vancouver. In contrast, online casinos have never really had much involvement with golf, until now. This change has been instigated by gaming software creators Microgaming who have created a new golf themed slot that’s caused a stir among sports fans and gamblers alike.

High hopes for Canadian golfers

There are high hopes for some Canadian winners in this year’s golf tournaments. Currently running is the RBC Canadian Open, where former favourite Mike Weir recently crashed out pointing to tendinitis in his arm. Stephen Ames, Dean Wilson and Jon Mills, who currently sits at two under par, are just some of the names to make the cut and with hopes to win this important championship for golfers. 107th U.S Open at Oakmont Golf & Country Club

The 107th U.S. Open at Oakmont Golf Club is the type of course these pros should play on every week. High scores in a PGA tourney event obviously isn’t a challenge for these guys. Not only that, as a spectator I couldn’t be less impressed/entertained by watching them have a cake walk all weekend long.

I like to see them struggle and sweat it out for par, this usually makes for an entertaining championship round that isn’t won on Saturday but on the 18th hole, possibly with the very last stroke.

The 180 bunkers and the rough have separated the men from the boys. I’m glad to see some of the men left standing are Canadian. Stephen Ames has a great shot at +3 and Mike Weir still isn’t out of the game yet.

Betting on the British Open

The British Open is starting tomorrow. Pinnaclesports.com has listed the odds of winning this tournament.

You can check out the odds, and place your wager as free bets in the UK are available online. Tiger Woods is of course number 1 on this list. The next few spots are the usual big names including Els, Mickelson and Furyk.

While the odds of choosing a correct pick are extremely difficult, the payout if you can pick that underdog to pull up and win could buy you a new car.

It appears there are only two Canadians on the list being Ames and Weir. I wouldn’t put my money on them. For me a long shot pick would be Graham McDowell. A safer bet – maybe Furyk or Harrington.

I must say this is one of my favourite golf tournaments. These courses with the burn and gusty winds put the best golfers to the test.

Course Review – Green Acres

I golfed Green Acres in Richmond this week. It was a shotgun start at 8:00 o’clock in the morning. They were having a tournament in the afternoon and the course was closed until after dinner for the public. This way they optimize revenue for the day, having two groups on every tee waiting for the 8 o’clock horn to signal the start.

The fairway’s and tee boxes were in good shape, while the greens may have needed cutting since they were quite slow and inconsistent. These greens are usually tougher since they are very small compared to other courses and resemble an upside down plate with everything rolling off the edges, demanding an accurate approach shot. Once on the green the ball was hoping all over the place while moving at a snails pace.

It seems at times Green Acres is located at Grand Central Station; On 7 out of 18 holes, traffic noise can be very distracting. Let’s not forget the overhead traffic from the airport; it seems relentless and at times you think they may be using one of the fairways for a landing.

From the tips it is a short course, measuring just over 6000 yards. The course is definitely walkable as there aren’t any elevation changes on the entire course.

The staff was nice and courteous making sure all the groups got to the proper starting hole as this isn’t always an easy task. Lunch was average as I only had a tuna sandwich and a bottle of coke.

The cost was $48.50 with a pull cart and it was a quick round at 3hrs + 45 min. I shot an 84 and my favorite hole was number 1 since I wasn’t distracted by any of the traffic noises.

The Golf Gods smiled Down on me today….

The June weather has not been good for us golfers. Every weekend has been dark, miserable and rainy, with only short breaks of sun. You want to book a tee time for the weekend and then you hear the weather on the news, 60% chance of rain, showers etc. I’m just praying that this weekend keeps dry as I’m golfing at Northview ( The Ridge). This has been my Canada Day tradition for the past 4 years. Mike Weir won his first PGA Tour event in 1999 at the Air Canada Championship hosted by Northview.
Today I was able to sneak out to my local track (Delta) and play 18 holes just before the hail and showers started. The golf Gods smiled on me as I shot my best game to date this year. Only 6 over! I was able to birdie my favourite hole #7 and I got par on the hardest hole on the course, #5. I’ve never seen Delta in such good shape as today.

Sunday’s Golf Pictures – Mylora

The weather wasn’t very good last weekend. Saturday rained all day and I was lucky enough to get in a round Sunday morning at Mylora golf course. View Map. Actually it turned out very lucky as we were the last group before a tournament was starting. Things were pretty damp as you can see and the course was in average shape for the conditions. The ducks seemed to be having a great time though. I’m crossing my fingers for this weekend. The weather reports keep varying. I like the golf report by the weather network. It helps when trying to plan a game in our rainy city.
